JUMP ROPE FOR HEART $2 DRESS DOWN DAY--FRIDAY MAY 15TH!!!!!
Tomorrow we will complete the Jump Rope for Heart fundraiser--thank you to the parents, students and staff who participated in this event. For those of you who have not donated thus far, it is NOT TOO LATE. Please go online and donate!!! Mr. Fixx has graciously agreed to a $2 Dress Down Day for tomorrow to assist us in completing this successful event. Parents - please submit any additional donation envelopes tomorrow and for further information, check out the Hoot or heart.org/jump website. Again, many thanks!!!

Grass Island Field Trip: Our field trip to Grass Island with our 4th grade Reading Buddies is scheduled for Wednesday, May 27th. Important details will be sent home next week! In the meantime, let us know if you have any questions. Parents are invited to meet us there.
PreK Talents: As promised in our last newsletter, the PreK talents shared so far are as follows: Keve did a fabulous job talking about and demonstrating his talent for Tae Kwon Do, Jamie shared her interest in photography along with a beautiful book of photographs she has taken, Abby told us about how she trains her electronic dragon and demonstrated how well her dragon follows her directions, and Charlie S. did an amazing job demonstrating step-by-step how he makes chocolate covered pretzels. We look forward to the rest of the upcoming talents!
Summer Reading Book Orders: This is a reminder that if you are planning to order any books from the summer reading list (which was sent home several days ago) the order form is due by Friday, May 15th. (TOMORROW) Thank you to those of you who have already sent your orders in.

Grandparents & Special Friends Day: Last Friday, May 8th was a big success with beautiful weather and lots of visitors (we figure about 23!). Everyone seemed to have a great time. We were pleased and proud to show off our school and classroom to Grandparents and Special Friends. The PreKers did their best to adjust to a totally different schedule and successfully gave tours of the class, shared activities, played with their guests, looked at photographs, listened to a story, and ended our time together with a PreK concert filled with songs, movement, audience participation, and the sharing of one of our class books. We hope all the adults enjoyed the day as much as the children did!
Bugs, Bugs, and more Bugs: Amid all the hustle and bustle of end of the year activities, we have also begun to learn about various kinds of insects and spiders. The children have begun to decorate the classroom with several fun and colorful projects, have made ladybugs and bumblebees, have been putting together bug puzzles, counting and sorting a wide variety of bugs (not real), looking at books, etc. Be on the lookout for some that will be coming home to you in the near future….
PreK Class Books: We are now sending around a book bag with several of our class books. Due to time constraints, we are sending them all together in one bag. Please read them with your child, write a brief comment at the end of each one and RETURN THEM THE FOLLOWING DAY to the classroom so we can be sure everyone has a turn to take them home. Thanks for your help.
End of Year Events:
More specific information will be coming home in the next newsletter.
Closing Ceremonies:
Closing Ceremonies for the students will take place on Monday, June 8th at 8:30 AM.
Field Day:
Field Day for PreKers will take place mid morning on Monday, June 8th.
Reading Buddy Lunch:
Our annual lunch with Reading Buddies will also take place on Monday, June 8th.
Last Day for PreK:
Tuesday, June 9th will be our last day for PreK. It is a shortened day and dismissal will be at the end of Prize Day. The PreKers do not attend Prize Day.
8th Grade Graduation:
Wednesday, June 10th is the 8th grade graduation. All are welcome to attend if you are interested or able to.
