PreK Press
January 13 - January 30
Dinosaurs: We are now fully immersed in one of the PreKer’s favorite topics - dinosaurs! The children love learning all the correct dinosaur names, whether they were plant or meat eaters, and what were many of their individual characteristics. We have already shared many interesting facts, have begun creating a dinosaur vocabulary list (which includes words such as paleontologist, extinct, excavate, frill, crest, fossil, and skeleton), have begun a “50 dinosaur book” challenge (we are currently at 23), and talk about whether the books we are reading are fiction or nonfiction. There have been many exciting dinosaur activities completed already and many more to come. Please be sure to check out the classroom mural, easel paintings, and all the other materials and artwork.
Cultural Arts Performance: Last Friday the whole school was treated to a wonderfully upbeat Cultural Arts performance when “Boogie Chillin” came to TCS. Their vocal and instrumental renditions of many familiar and a few unfamiliar songs helped map a history of American music. The PreKers were a well-behaved and appreciative audience and we all walked away singing! Thank you to our Cultural Arts committee.
Valentine’s Day Celebration: On Friday, February 13th the PreKers will be having a Valentine’s Day celebration in the classroom that will include a special snack (a sign-up sheet is now posted in the hallway) and the passing out of valentines. Please send your child to school with valentines for each child in the class, and have them sign their name on each card. The children may address them if they want to, but it is not necessary as we will be helping them distribute the cards. We will also be making valentine holders in class so there is no need to send in any type of container from home. Here is a list of all the children in the class.
Abby Hunter
Alex Jamie
Charlie O. Keve
Charlie S. Mattea

There is no need to send your child’s regular snack on that day.
No School: Please note that TCS will be closed on Monday, February 16th.
Parent Conferences: There is no school for children on Friday, February 20th as that is our next parent conference day. The sign-up sheet is now posted outside the classroom. As always, we look forward to talking with all of you about your terrific children! Hopefully there is a time slot that works for you and, if not, please let us know so we can find an alternative.
Celebration of Learning Date: We are in the process of finalizing the date for our dinosaur Celebration of Learning and we will let you know just a soon as it is definite.
Grandparents and Special Friends Day: The date for Grandparents and Special Friends Day is officially set for Friday, May 8th. Please be sure to mark it on your calendar, read additional information about it in The Little Hoot, and give the names and addresses to the farmhouse as soon as possible. If you will not be able to have someone joining your PreK student for that day, please speak directly to either Mrs. Halsey or Ms. Hard.
